Title 1 is short for "Title 1, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. Reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001". It is the largest federal assistance program for schools. The federal government provides funding to the state. The state sends the money to school districts based on the number of families below a set income level. The local districts use the funding to help meet the Title 1 goal of helping every child get a high-quality education.

Chetek-Weyerhaeuser School District currently receives federal funds to provide a schoolwide program at the elementary school. A schoolwide program serves all children in the school by providing resource teachers to assist in classrooms in the areas of reading and math. Schoolwide programs count on parent support. All parents are invited to help plan and take part in our schools program. Planning meetings take place in the fall and spring of each school year. Watch for those dates on the school calendar.
