We have developed our behavior matrix for snowy days and the playground. In years past, we had many arguments between our students dealing with snow - for example; who the snow belonged to, students throwing snow at each other, students building forts and having others wreck them, and the list goes on! The development of the matrix will help alleviate and prevent these types of difficulties on our playground. We ask for your help. Please talk with your child about these rules and why they are important to follow. The rules can be found on the next link under PBIS.
Please remember that ALL students MUST wear boots, snowpants, coats, hats and mittens or gloves while playing outside in the snow. If any child does not have snowboots or snowpants, they will be required to stand by the wall on the blacktop during recess. This has been a rule for many years, and will continue.
Also, flip-flops will no longer be allowed to be worn at school, in any season. These types of shoes are very dangerous to wear on the playground due to the pea gravel that is on the ground throughout the playground. Also, if your child wears heals or boots that are more for fashion than snow, please have your child bring a change of shoes to wear on the playground. Our focus is the safety of our students, and with your help, we will be successful in keeping our students safe. Thank you.
